What is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is especially helpful for women who have tried talk therapy before and still feel stuck despite understanding their patterns

Brainspotting is a brain-body therapy that helps process trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and experiences that can feel “stuck” even after years of talk therapy. Many people understand their patterns intellectually but still notice their nervous system reacting through anxiety, shutdown, panic, hypervigilance, or emotional flooding. Brainspotting helps access and process those deeper nervous system responses so healing can happen beyond just insight and coping skills.

What Brainspotting Can Help With

Brainspotting can help with a wide range of experiences connected to trauma and nervous system dysregulation, including:

  • anxiety and chronic overwhelm

  • trauma and PTSD

  • attachment wounds and relationship struggles

  • people-pleasing and perfectionism

  • emotional shutdown or numbness

  • panic and hypervigilance

  • feeling stuck despite years of therapy

  • dissociation

  • stress and burnout

  • difficulty feeling safe, connected, or regulated

Because Brainspotting works with the nervous system, it can be especially helpful for people who feel like they “understand” their struggles but still experience strong emotional or physical reactions.

What a Brainspotting Session Feels Like

Brainspotting sessions are often slower, more focused, and more body-aware than traditional talk therapy. During a session, we pay attention to what’s happening internally - thoughts, emotions, body sensations, activation, or memories - while using eye position to help access deeper processing in the brain and nervous system.

Some sessions involve talking, while others may involve more quiet observation and noticing. There’s no pressure to explain everything perfectly or relive trauma in overwhelming ways. The goal is to help your nervous system process experiences safely and at your own pace.

Brainspotting and Nervous System Healing

Brainspotting is rooted in the understanding that trauma impacts the nervous system, not just thoughts or emotions. When the nervous system has been stuck in survival responses for a long time, it can become difficult to fully feel safe, connected, calm, or present.

Brainspotting supports nervous system healing by helping the brain and body process unresolved activation that may still be contributing to anxiety, shutdown, emotional reactivity, or chronic stress patterns. Over time, this work can help increase emotional regulation, resilience, and capacity to stay present during stress or vulnerability.

       Online Brainspotting Therapy

I offer online Brainspotting therapy for women located in California, Florida and Tennessee. Many people are surprised by how effective Brainspotting can be virtually. Online sessions still allow for deep nervous system processing while offering the comfort of being in your own space.
